Ignition – Digital Literacy & Responsibility National Impact Report 2016-2017 School Year

515,548 Students 5,482 Schools 1,400,549 Hours of Learning Ignition – Digital Literacy & Responsibility Program Reach For the 2016-2017 School Year Ignition – Digital Literacy & Responsibility educates students on the nuts and bolts of how technology works while placing them in virtual environments to tackle issues surrounding digital citizenship. EVERFI and our partners provide an immersive learning environment to communities across the country at no charge to schools or districts, ensuring that students receive the instruction they need to make safe and responsible decisions online. Your Impact 515,548 Students 5,482 Schools 1,400,549 Hours of Learning The Ignition course covers everything from internet safety and cyberbullying to how to evaluate online content and properly credit creators of online content. After completing your Ignition program, students have a more thorough understanding of the digital skills necessary to tackle a range of real-life scenarios.

Knowledge Gain: Ignition After taking Ignition, students increased their scores on assessment tests by an average of 65%. Here’s how they performed by topic: Students showed improvement across the board on all elements of digital citizenship.

Data Privacy and Security Most students recognize the importance online security and privacy. After taking Ignition - Digital Literacy and Responsibility, students feel better prepared to protect their privacy and are more likely to engage in safe online behaviors. 79% Of students say it is their responsibility to protect their privacy online. 77% Of students feel prepared to set up privacy settings on a social network. After taking Ignition, nearly half of students say they are likely to change their passwords frequently, compared with just 38% of U.S. adults.1 1 IPSOS. (2010). Evaluating Online Content & Digital Skills Not everything on the internet is accurate. After taking Ignition, most students feel prepared to critically assess websites and use trustworthy online resources for their school work. 75% Of students feel prepared to pick a credible website to use for a research project. 68% Of students are likely to use a reliable source online to help with their homework. Additionally, Ignition students gain hard digital skills, like how to build a presentation or compare computers.
