Structure of the Programme Service, Hospitality and Tourism Management

1. General The Service, Hospitality and Tourism Management programme is a two year study programme consisting of four semesters. The foundation for the program is the service industry where you also are given the opportunity to select between specific electives. During your 2nd sem. you must select 2 different electives, hereafter the 3rd semester you must 1 select one. For further references the electives catalogue The programme focuses on practice-oriented class teaching done through case studies and projects. The first two semesters are based on theory and practice, whereas the 3rd semester includes an internship period - Work Placement, in a service company, lasting three months. The 4th semester concludes with a final examination project. You also have the opportunity to study abroad (as an exchange) during your 3rd and/4th semester. Additional info: The internship will give you the opportunity to use the qualifications that you have obtained in class and put them into practice.

Knowledge The terminology and concepts used by the service industry as well as its use of theory and method in practice, in Denmark as well as internationally The company's potential for cooperating with business partners and users on developing services and experiences Basic strategic concepts and tools of influence to the service company's choice of strategy and models Skills Assess the conditions relating to costs for the service and experience company with a view to financial calculations and budgeting Assess the connection between the company's service concept, supply system and competition system as well as assess relevant development trends for the company Apply knowledge about cultures in negotiation situations as well as set up and communicate Note to the Lecturer: Tell the difference between Knowledge/Skills/Competences Ref: CURRICULUM for the AP Degree Programme in Service, Hospitality & Tourism Management

Competences Handle different national and international development and sales situations within the service and experience industry Acquire new skills, knowledge and competences in relation to the service and experience industry in a structured manner Handle structural and cultural issues within their own professional field based on an overall assessment of the specific service and experience company Take part in discipline-specific and interdisciplinary intercultural collaboration at an operational and tactical level, including collaboration on the service and experience company’s managerial functions and staff assignments Note to Lectures: Talk about Competences and link those to business competences found in Flow Plans.

The programme includes 4 national subject elements Services & Experiences Business Understanding Cooperation & Relations Business Development Each one of the above-listed subject elements is defined by specific knowledge, skills and competences obtained and executed in Study Flows: Example: The Services & Experiences subject area includes analyses of the hospitality concept and the understanding of the concept of guests, including customer behaviour in relation to the company’s services.

Definitions What is a study flow? A study flow is consisting of learning objectives the student will gain and ends with a project week where the students will work hand on with the learning objectives The Study Flows during the 1st academic year: Flow 1: Welcome to Service and Experience Management Flow 2: Service Experience and Hostmenship in Practise Flow 3: Business Understanding Flow 4: Working in international environment Flow 5: Professional Communication Flow nr. 1: Velkommen til service og oplevelse Flow nr. 2: Service, oplevelser og værtsskab i praksis Flow nr. 3: Forretningsforståelse Flow nr. 4: Samarbejde i et internationalt miljø Flow nr. 5: Professionel kommunikation

Internship: Work Placement Knowledge The students should have acquired knowledge of the livelihood and organisation of the work placement company Skills The students should be able to assess practice-related problems and issues and gather knowledge to solve work assignments and functions Competences The students should be able to take part in the running of the work placement company as well as development-oriented work processes and functions Prepare a project based on a practice-related problem or issue in a structured manner Reflect on the achievement of discipline-specific and personal goals during the work placement The work placement is completed with one exam

Overview of Exams Exam Conducted Examination Form Assessment Study Start Test Conducted during the first week of teaching Individual Internal Mandatory Learning Objectives (OLA) Prerequisite to be allowed to take part in an exam   Interdisciplinary Exam Conducted during 1st and 2nd semester Individual portfolio exam The 1st-year exam is worth 45 ECTS credits. It is made up of the national subject elements Services & Experiences, Business understanding and Cooperation & Relations.  Internal Elective Exam Part 1 Conducted by the end of the 2nd semester Individual oral exam Internship Exam In the middle of the 3rd sem. Written group project & an individual evaluation of how well the objectives formulated by students have been achieved. Elective Exam Part 2 At the end of 3rd sem. Individual oral examination based on a group identified practical problem area within Elective C Development exam In the middle of the 4rd sem. Written group project with individual assessment External Final Examination Project By the end of the 4rd sem. A written group project and oral group exam
