Leadership By Esraa Abujayyab

History of Leadership Leadership studies in the early part of the 20th century focused on what has been referred to as “Great Man and trait theories”.

What is Leadership? According to Keith Davis, “Leadership is the ability to persuade others to seek defined objectives enthusiastically. It is the human factor which binds a group together and motivates it towards goals.”

Leadership vs. Management Leadership is setting a new direction or vision for a group that they follow, i.e.: a leader is the spearhead for that new direction. Management controls or directs people/resources in a group according to principles or values that have been established. Definitions from Myers, S. Leadership and Management: What is the Difference? Retrieved from http://www.teamtechnology.co.uk/leadership/management/definitions-of-leadership-and-management/

The importance of Leadership Leadership training and development can maximize productivity and create a positive culture to work in. Whereas, weak leadership can hurt productivity and put the health of the business at risk.

Responsibilities of a Leader A team leader is responsible for guiding a group of employees as they complete a project. They are responsible for developing and implementing a timeline their team will use to reach its end goal. Is Leadership a talent or skill? Usually both! People in leading positions typically have a specific genotype called rs4950 according to an experiment by Dr De Neve and his team. However, Professor Ronald E Riggio answered the same questions by saying “to cut to the chase, the answer is: ‘mostly made.'
