Today we will how America’s first President and Congress began to set up a new government.

What We Already Know The Articles of Confederation were replaced with a constitution that gave the national government more power to govern over the states. This goes a long way in explaining why so many people were opposed to the Constitution which established a more powerful central government.

What We Already Know The framers wanted a central government that was strong enough to govern the nation, but not too strong that it could not be controlled by the citizens.
