BASIC MACHINEGUN COURSE Purpose: To provide training and education to non-infantry personnel on the M240B, M2, and Mk19. The desired end-state is to produce a Marine competent in the maintenance and operation of the specific weapon system. Each one week course focuses on one of the crew served machinegun systems (M240B, M2, Mk19) and is run once annually. Task List: 1000 Level: Machinegun operating procedures Immediate action and remedial action for the respective weapon system Target engagement from a ground mounted weapon system Target engagement from a vehicle mounted weapon system Methodology: The course focuses on the operation and function of each weapon system and utilizes instruction, practical application and a live fire range to provide the Marine with the knowledge of the characteristics and capabilities of that system. Course Length: 1 Week / 5 Training Days
