Alarm Extension Pack from Wonderware Finland (Klinkmann)

Wonderware Finland solutions for alarm/event management Have you ever encountered a problem when standard options of Wonderware System Platform alarming system is not enough for you? If so, then Alarm Extension Pack from Wonderware Finland might help you. Wonderware Finland solutions for alarm/event management extend the Wonderware Alarm System with new functions, features and capabilities. Improved handling of alarms and events greatly increases the performance, capabilities and reliability of data processing for applications running in Wonderware System Platform environment. Wonderware Finland solutions for alarm/event management are built to extend the today existing Wonderware standard alarm functionality with new features, still using the standard Wonderware Alarm System. 11/9/2018 AlarmExtensionPack_en_0114

Wonderware Finland solutions for alarm/event management Wonderware Finland solutions for alarm/event management are provided as Alarm Extension Pack package, including the following components (Application Objects for use in Wonderware Application Server, developed by using ArchestrA Object Toolkit): • Alarm Gateway Object • Alarm DB Logger Object • Alarm Converter Object • Alarm Archiver Object 11/9/2018 AlarmExtensionPack_en_0114

AlarmExtensionPack_en_0114 Alarm Gateway Object Alarm Gateway Object is the basic component of Alarm Extension Pack, providing Wonderware Alarm Provider / Alarm Consumer functionality for processing alarms/events coming from/to Wonderware Application Server and/or other Alarm Providers and Alarm Consumers compatible with Wonderware Alarm System: Alarm Gateway Object works with all incoming “flow” of alarms/events received at Alarm Gateway Alarm Consumer side, then this “flow” is filtered and processed according to rules configured in Alarm Gateway and then at Alarm Gateway Alarm Provider side provided to Alarm Consumers. 11/9/2018 AlarmExtensionPack_en_0114

Alarm Gateway Object – basic features The Alarm Gateway Object basic features are following: Alarm/event filtering (see slide 6 below) Custom attributes for changing the alarm/event priority and user defined fields (see slide 7 below) “Exposed Alarm Field arrays” to expose specific Alarm information (fields) as object attributes for use in Application Server scripting “Custom Acked alarm comment fields” for acknowledged alarms, useful in case alarm descriptions are used “Mimic” functionality, e.g. for opening specific InTouch windows that are tied with specific alarms Support for multiple distributed Alarm Gateways, to avoid system overload Redundant Alarm Gateway configuration, to support Application Server redundancy Connection with UReason Alarming System The Alarm Gateway Object is developed by using the Wonderware Distributed Alarm Toolkit 11/9/2018 AlarmExtensionPack_en_0114

Alarm Gateway Object – configuration and filtering Alarm Gateway Object configuration is done via “Consumer”, “Provider”, “UReason”, “Diagnostic logs” and “Object Information” tabs: For example, by changing the “To Priority” setting in “Consumer” tab to 998, the alarms/events only with priorities from 1 to 998 will be provided to Alarm Consumers. 11/9/2018 AlarmExtensionPack_en_0114

Alarm Gateway Object – changing alarm/event custom attributes By using custom attributes, it is possible to change the “Priority”, “User1”, “User2” and “User3” alarm data fields in Wonderware Alarm System. Custom attributes can be set from Application Server scripts, for example, the following command sets the alarm Priority to 10 for “Generator_001.Analog_001.Lo” alarm: AlarmGateway_001.setWWPriority = Me.Tagname + ".Analog_001.Lo=10"; 11/9/2018 AlarmExtensionPack_en_0114

AlarmExtensionPack_en_0114 Alarm DB Logger Object Alarm DB Logger Object can be used for storing to separate Wonderware alarm/event database the alarms/events coming from Wonderware Application Server and/or other Alarm Providers compatible with Wonderware Alarm System: Several Alarm DB Logger Object instances can be deployed on same computer, so allowing to have several separate Wonderware alarm/event databases on same computer. The Alarm DB Logger Object is developed by using the Wonderware Distributed Alarm Toolkit. 11/9/2018 AlarmExtensionPack_en_0114

Alarm Converter Object Alarm Converter Object can be used used for storing to custom SQL database the alarms/events coming from Wonderware Application Server and/or other Alarm Providers compatible with Wonderware Alarm System: The Alarm Converter Object together with Alarm Archiver Object can be used to create the system for long-term storage of Wonderware alarm/event data – see next slide 11. The Alarm Converter Object is developed by using the Wonderware Distributed Alarm Toolkit. 11/9/2018 AlarmExtensionPack_en_0114

AlarmExtensionPack_en_0114 Alarm Archiver Object Alarm Archiver Object provides the functionality for long-term storage in archiving station the custom alarm databases created by Alarm Converter Object. The data in the final storage can be split into several databases to increase the performance and keep the optimal size of databases: 11/9/2018 AlarmExtensionPack_en_0114

Peformance and licensing General information about Alarm Gateway Object current version performance: about 2500 alarm state changes per minute can be processed without CPU load issues - CPU load is about 10-30 % on Hyper-V virtual machine; CPU: Intel Xeon E5620 (2,4 GHz) with 1 CPU core for Virtual Machine where Alarm Gateway is running. Objects included in Alarm Extension Pack support two types of licenses: - The demo license is for free and provides an unlimited functionality, but it is valid only for a limited time period (usually one month). - The Software Key enables the Alarm Gateway Object unlimited full time running without any restrictions, one Software Key is valid for all objects deployed on same node. 11/9/2018 AlarmExtensionPack_en_0114
