SPECIAL QUADRILATERALS Aren’t you SUPER excited?

PARALLELOGRAM Definition: A quadrilateral with opposite sides are parallel. Properties: Opposite sides are congruent Opposite angles are congruent Consecutive angles are supplementary Diagonals bisect each other.

RHOMBUS Definition: Parallelogram with 4 congruent sides PROPERTIES ALL of the properties of a parallelogram Each diagonal bisect a pair of opposite angles Diagonals are perpendicular

RECTANGLE Definition: A parallelogram with four congruent angles. (90 degrees) PROPERTIES ALL of the properties of a parallelogram Diagonals are congruent.

SQUARE Definition: A equiangular and equilateral parallelogram. (In other words it is a rhombus and a rectangle) PROPERTIES: All of the properties of a rhombus. All of the properties of a rectangle.

Got all that??? Lets see! Number a clean half sheet of paper 1-11 I will show you a characteristic of a special quadrilateral. Tell what special quadrilateral it is. Use P for parallelogram, H for rhombus, R for rectangle and S for square. “None of these” for none of these. Several properties will have more than one answer.

Here we go!! Opposite sides parallel. 4 right angles 4 congruent sides Diagonals perpendicular Opposite angles congruent Four congruent sides and four congruent angles

Not done yet Diagonals bisect opposite angles Opposite sides congruent Consecutive sides parallel Four congruent angles Diagonals congruent NOW TRADE PAPERS.

MORE ANSWERS H S P H R S NONE OF THEM RS

Mini Quiz: No Notes Use P for Parallelogram Use H for Rhombus Use R for Rectangle Use S for Square Use NONE for none of these. Keep in mind, most of these will have more than one answer.

Give the figure(s) that have the following characteristics Diagonals are perpendicular Opposite angles are congruent All angles are right Is Equilateral Opposite sides are parallel.

Almost done Diagonals are congruent. Is equiangular Consecutive angles are supplementary Interior angles have a sum of 9000 degrees Is both equiangular and equilateral.
