Japan PV Committee Study Group Updates Safety Study Group Venue, Location, Date

Safety Study Group No activity. Whether or not the Study Group will be disbanded will be concluded at the next committee meeting.

Topics Shared the outcome of International PV Module QA Forum 1st International PV Module QA Forum was held in the week of InterSolar NA (Jul. 15-16@Moscone Esplanade). PV module reliability has been getting more concerns from those concerned while current IEC Stds are not intended to provide good information on it. The forum, hosted jointly by AIST/PVTEC, NREL and EU_DG_JRC supported by SEMI, is to provide a platform to develop an internationally agreed guide for PV Manufacturing process QA and Module Rating, which will be eventually proposed to IEC TC82 WG2 for their discussion. SEMI PV Group participated in this workshop. Any topic discussed at this workshop may be brought to the committee. 2nd International PV Module QA Forum was held in Japan on December 7-8. Japan PV Materials Committee Task Force Updates Japan PV Materials Task Force Venue, Location, Date

Japan PV Materials Task Force Leader Masaaki Yamamichi/ AIST Takashi Ishihara/ Mitsubishi Electric Charter Identify standardization needs and priorities for specifications, guidelines and procedures related to Materials used for manufacturing PV cells/modules and systems. Examples of such material include, but are not limited to: substrates, TCO films, optical enhancement films, conductive interconnect, insulator materials, absorber films, PVB, EVA, backsheet, sputtering targets, starting material e.g. UMG Si, Poly-si, etc. Participate and support the PV Standards Roadmap discussion. Shared the outcome of NA and EU meetings. Agreed to draft the list of key items by reference to specifications of silicon wafers for semiconductor to see what have been standardized and what have not in PV area.
