HELLENIC BANK MIDDLE DISTANCE Event HELLENIC BANK MIDDLE DISTANCE SWIM 1.9Km - BIKE 90 km - RUN 21 km

Schedule BIKE CHECK IN: 5:30 – 7:00 START: 8:30 AWARDS: 15:00-15:30

Safety Comes First Helmet is mandatory at all times whilst in contact with your bike. Ride your bike on the left hand side of the road and follow the traffic rules If you feel that you cannot continue - stop racing immediately. If you have stopped competing - let an official know as soon as possible. Look after fellow athletes and notify officials in the case of an incident.

General Information The three helmet stickers go one on the left side, one on the right side and the third one in the front. The bike sticker shall be attached so it is visible from both sides of the bicycle. Fix the bib number on a race belt. Turn on the back for the bike section. Turn in front for the run section. No race belt is provided by the organisers. You have to bring your own.

General Information continued Earphones are prohibited. After the race is finished athletes are allowed to visit the TA briefly in a controlled manner. At recovery area fruits and drinks will be given to the athletes who finish the race.  Finisher’s T-Shirt can be collected from the recovery area by showing your race number. Bike can be picked after the award’s ceremony is finished.

Direction for Putting on Timing Chip Band Place the band on ankle with words “Swim, Bike, Run” showing Face Up. Place the gap between the foam tags at the center of the ankle. Make sure one foam spacer is located on the right side of the ankle and the other on the left side of the ankle – Per photo #1. Adjust and attach the Band by inserting two fingers to create space between the ankle and the Band – Per photo #2. Be sure your hands are completely clean so as not to affect the adhesive with sunscreen, Vaseline etc. The timing Band to work properly it must be on the outside of all clothing. Do not cover with wetsuit. A backup timing chip is behind your Race Number. It is very important not to remove it.

Transition Area (TA) Cycling in TA is not permitted The TA must be kept tidy at all times. Access only to athletes wearing a race wrist band.

The Swim Wetsuit will be optional. A beach mass start with a run from the beach. Leave all buoys to your left. Hellenic Bank Middle Distance – 2 laps Count the laps. Exit at the exit gantry. Exiting the swim at any other point will lead to disqualification.

The Bike Helmets must be worn before the bike is removed from its position on the racks. The upper body must be covered at all times during the race. Ride your bike on the left hand side of the road. Obey traffic rules and Marshal's directions. Drafting is not allowed. Count the laps.

Bike map Hellenic Bank Middle Distance – 5 laps

Drafting Max 20 seconds are allowed to pass through the drafting zone. Overtaken athlete must move out of the draft zone of the leading athlete within 5 seconds. Drafting Zone 12m for Middle Distance

Penalties for Drafting Technical Officials will notify the athletes who draft that they are subject to a time penalty. The athlete sanctioned has to stop in the penalty box and must stay there for a specific time depending on the race distance. Five minutes for middle distance. It is the athlete’s responsibility to stop in the penalty box. Failing to stop will result in a disqualification. The third drafting offence will lead to disqualification for middle distance.

The Run The upper body must be covered at all times. Half Distance – 3 laps The upper body must be covered at all times. Count the laps.

Aid Stations There will be one Aid station on the bike course and three Aid stations on the run course for the Hellenic Bank Middle Distance.   The Bike Aid Station will offer water and will be located near the police roundabout in the bike loop. It is the athlete’s own responsibility to collect the needed energy from the tables in the AID stations. We don’t guarantee volunteers to hand it to you “on the fly”. The Run Aid Station-1will offer water and will be located near Adams Hotel. The Run Aid Station-2 will offer water and SQUEEZY electrolyte. It will be located near the Ayia Napa Water Park. The Run Aid Station-3 will offer SQUEEZY energy gels and will be located near Ayia Thekla church. Athletes must collect a wristband in every lap and present them at the finish.

Toilets Toilets will be located at the transition area, Bike Aid Station and Run Aid Station-2.

Parking Areas

Cutoff times Swim: Athletes will have 1:00 to complete the swim. Bike: 4 hours and 30 minutes after the start. Run: 7 hours after the start. Total Time Cut-off: The race will officially end 7 hours after the start. Each athlete will have 7 hours to complete the race.
