Leisure Touring & Safety Brief Summary of 2016 points. Reports received from the following Kenya Zambia Zimbabwe Morocco Uganda Overview: 2016 was also a troubled year for financing of events and sponsorship, no major tours where organized under the FIM-AFRICA banner this year but our regular events took place and leisure riding and touring throughout Africa seemed on the increase with a greater number of woman riders and youngsters taking part in events, safety aspect has played a large part in our campaigns this year and the use of motorcycles as a means of transport throughout Africa has been on the increase

Kenya: In Kenya informal groups of riders continue holding sporadic rides with only one club as an officially recognized leisure, touring group and have a program of events including charity runs and safety events with the inclusion of more woman riders taking part. The main event of the year will again be the CBA African Concours d” Elegance 22-24 Sept with entries from all over Africa and catering for cars and motorcycles and will be held under the FIM-AFRICA flag. On the safety side Kenya introduced very stringent rules on helmets and safety jackets and this has had a good response from all motorcycle road users and the number of biker fatalities has decreased during the course of the year. Boda boda riders still a problem but police are enforcing the new rules for all motorcyclists and progress is being made in this area.

ZAMBIA Zambia has been very active throughout the year on Leisure, Touring events which have included rides to the Elephant Orphanage and Save the Rhino Trust with the STOP POACHING Logo at all events, these events have had FIM-AFRICA approval and have been overseen by FIM-AFRICA CHAIRMAN and have all a good following in the motorcycle fraternity. Numerous charity events have been undertaken and Ride for Autism Awareness was hosted and looked after by the various clubs. The Lusaka Motor show was supported by the biker community and a display of classic bikes where on show with the FIM-AFRICA STOP POACHING BANNERS on display.

ZIMBABWE Zimbabwe Leisure, Touring have had a busy year and managed to hold numerous events which have all been posted on the FIM-AFRICA website, Safety Days, Rider instruction, Track Days and Bike Maintenance workshops have been held, Our main biker away events such as Nyami Nyami Rally, Eastern Highlands Rally, Trout Rally, Gold Run have all been excellent with South African and Zambian entrants taking part, Our normal charity events took place with old age homes and orphanages being looked after. A ride for Autism Awareness was carried out and money was raised for this event. More major events have been planned for 2017 with the main one being the Victoria Falls International Indaba which is being held 23-26 June 2017 and we are hoping to have FIM-AFRICA approval and support. The Victoria Falls International Indaba is posted on the FIM-AFRICA website.

MOROCCO Morocco have numerous active clubs and many Leisure,Touring rides take place, Parades and safety clinics are also held on a regular basis, The Royal Moto Club de Kenitra organized Motocamp 2016 and was held in Ifrane, This was a FIM-AFRICA EVENT and had mainly riders from Europe and other parts of Africa. UGANDA The Uganda Bikers Association hold regular charity rides and have adopted a childrens orphanage which benefits from their regular support. They have numerous leisure and touring rides some even going through to Kenya in support of the CBA Concourse. Safety courses are on the increase in Uganda and are working well. NAMIBIA The Namibian Motor Sports Federation is the controlling body for motorcycle sport and leisure Regular rides and Touring events take place also, safety seminars are undertaken.
