I. The Global Programme “Private Sector Adaptation to Climate Change” (PSACC) ToC - Module 0

I. The PSACC Programme - Overview of the global programme Approach: Identify, test, assess and disseminate adaptation concepts for SMEs in four selected countries in various sectors (except agriculture) Local perspectives as a basis for global recommendations: country-specific approaches in Rwanda, Bangladesh, Morocco and Central America (Costa Rica) Objectif principal: mettre au point et tester des instruments pour le renforcement des capacités du secteur privé en vue de l’adaptation au changement climatique Morocco Bangladesh This is why we want to identify, test, assess and of course at the end disseminate concepts for businesses – especially for SMEs – no farmers! In 4 countries/ regions By the way, there was an interesting study launched by UNDP and Global Compact on The Business Case for Responsible Corporate Adaptation: Strengthening Private Sector and Community Resilience or an analysis of the adaptative capacity of the value chain of big businesses in a recently published report of the WBCSD But both studies are looking at multinationals and big companies. Our target group are not multinationals but we are focussing on SME. SME are in our sense of view the backbone of the most of the countries we are operating in terms of employment rates but the most vulnerable in terms of climate change. Central America Rwanda

Since 2001: Through National Adaptation Programmes of Action (NAPAs) least developed countries report their adaptation needs 2010: Cancun Adaptation Framework established to enhance adaptation action, e.g. through international cooperation, establishment of international / regional / national adaptation institutions ToC - Module 0
