Guidance on the Criteria for Competition Overview This document sets the criteria for the Sweet competition orchestrated and facilitated by Portal Training. This document will work in conjunction with the competition questions identified and will act as an assessment criteria for the judging panel.   Competition information ** It is mandatory that all entrants are registered with Sweet ** The competition will commence on the 11th of June 2018 for all student entries. Please advise students to use the criteria detailed in the table below which subsequently will be assessed by a panel of judges using our grading criteria. The closing date for the competition will be July 20th 2018 with the winner announced on the 14th of September 2018. Educational workshop provided will be for a maximum of 35 students. Please ensure that all learners have completed the checklist to gain entry. Judging criteria  The judging criteria will be based on a point scoring system of 1-10 with each question making up part of a final percentage score along with presentation and the originality of entry. The scoring will be based on: Content 90% (from judging criteria) Meeting all the requirements of the assessment criteria outlined Presentation 10% Correct sentence structure, spelling, punctuation and grammar. Judging criteria 1. Has it made a positive impact on your confidence and self esteem?  Related to books 1, 7   20% of overall score Participants will be scored on the content of their answers to embed: 1.1. How it has improved overall confidence when working with others & taking a lead role; giving examples of each experience. (3) 1.2. Learners to describe heightened awareness of how personal circumstances can affect their self esteem. Give examples of how they may have taken steps to improve it (3) 1.3. Be able to evaluate how the qualification has helped to project a positive image for their future career. (2) 1.4. Able to state how SWEET can help someone with low self esteem or confidence (2)  Total points achievable = 10 2. What skills have you learnt to help with your future job prospects? Related to books 3, 4, 5, 7 & 8. 25% 2.1. Learner can evidence an increase in their organisational skills, setting short term goals and creating smart targets; giving examples. (3) 2.2. Be able to state how SWEET can support someone to create a personal budget plan whilst gaining an understanding of the importance of finance management. (2) 2.3. Learner can explain the skills that are attractive to an employer and give examples of specific skills they have developed throughout the SWEET qualification. (4) 2.4. Describe how they have gained the ability to communicate in a group, problem solve and to lead a group of individuals. (3) 2.5 Enhanced their chances of succeeding in employment through C.V writing and new knowledge of job applications. (3) Total points = 15 3. Has it helped to create positive relationships and to respect people from differing backgrounds in society? Related to books 2, 7, 6 20% 3.1. Give examples of the positive skills and behaviours that have been developed through SWEET* when forming and maintaining relationships (4) 3.2. Explain the benefits of a diverse community and how this diversity can create a positive impact on society. (2) 3.3. Evidence how own attitudes have developed regarding diversity since completing the SWEET* qualification. (2) 3.4. Learners give examples of how SWEET* has developed their understanding of political systems in the U.K to include democratic decision making and understanding rights & responsibilities. (3) Total points = 11 4. Has your knowledge improved from when you started the qualification? All books 4.1. Learners are able to give examples of positive experiences they have undertaken through completing the SWEET* qualification. e.g presenting to a group, community & enterprise activities, group work, research tasks. (4) 4.2. Give examples of how SWEET* has made a positive impact regarding their attitude to school work, their effort, overall behaviour and attendance. (2) 4.3. Able to evaluate how the qualification has positively driven progression of their overall knowledge from chapter 1 to 8 with examples of skills they have developed. (3) Total points = 9
