Auto-Deflection Let’s deflect our DVDs since our director says we can’t ILL them. Policies Directory Policies Deflection New Policy Name Service Type (Loan, Copy or Both) Deflection Type Formats (Visual Material – DVD, Visual Material – VHS, Serial are examples) OCLC Groups Ideal world – everything would go out on ILL and I would like to promote that everything at least be considered for ILL but if this is not an option for you, then auto-deflection will save your staff time.

Deflection type choices are: Enable real-time deflection and Disable deflection. When you disable, it allows you to turn deflection off temporarily.

Auto-Deflection (Filtering) For titles that cannot be deflected as a group based on format. UI has identified several collections that fit this criteria: Roxburghe Collection, Iowa Woman’s Archives, and videos on permanent reserve. “Special Collections” is not a format but within this department, the Roxburghe Collection is a set of titles that will not go out on ILL. Same for the Iowa Woman’s Archives. Our videos can be deflected via format but because we will lend videos, only the ones on permanent reserve are being targeted for filtering because they cannot go out on ILL. 100 records of 250 for Roxburghe have been completed; Only 5 from IWA.

Also 853, 863 and 866 fields must be deleted because there are not any serials “holdings”. Leader, 007, 008, and 852 are only fields needed. Using the “Functions” key will delete all others.

Serial Local Holdings Records (LHRs) ILLiad 7.2 Strategic Union List Report Reasons for No Report ILLiad now has auto-selection option to automatically choose lenders based on LHRs. If your institution does not have records, they won’t get auto-selected. Direct requesting of articles is possible now, although fairly clunky so expect this to expand.
