“A Place to Gather and Grow” St Philip’s 2018 Capital Campaign

St Philips With New Parish Hall

“A Place to Gather & Grow” Space limitations have been an issue for years We “can” fix the situation We are at a point where we “must” move our church forward   If we don’t do this we will languish in a state of limbo which is neither fun nor solves our space shortage issues If we don’t do this many Ministry programs will be negatively impacted

We Are Growing Approaching Program size attendance numbers, Church facilities proven inadequate Greater Lay participation in life of the Church Ministry Boards are reaching out to both our members and the greater community Celebrating 250 years of service Church leadership has committed themselves to 100% participation in our campaign

Benefits It’s Not Just A Building Faith Formation —expansion of existing offerings, Sunday Adult Education, Bible study, meditation, and labyrinth functions along with adding ministries to include prayer groups, book clubs, and interfaith church fellowship gatherings Outreach – expand ministries to target youth along with the addition of new groups to address issues affecting seniors, drug addiction, and other family life concerns.

Benefits It’s Just Not A Building Parish Life – adequate space would allow us to increase venues not only for the Parish but the broader community, conferences, liturgical music, increased outreach Worship – Central focus making the worship experience meaningful for everyone & facilitating smooth flow of our services

Benefits It’s Not Just A Building Finance & Facilities – Ensuring the financial health of our Church and maintaining the physical health of our campus in order to support all of our Ministries Staff and Vestry -- Existing administrative space needs to be brought into today’s world

What Is Needed Sale and removal of Parkhill House -- Completed Move of Carr-Jorgenson (CJ) House -- Negotiations currently underway Architect selected to develop plans for our new space also working with potential purchaser of CJ Plans being developed for temporary relocation of Parish staff Space will be tight during construction period but worth the wait

Financial Needs Vestry chose to have a single 5 Year Capital Campaign In addition to new building there are several other capital needs Brochure outlines needs and estimated costs

CAPITAL CAMPAIGN NEEDS Estimated Costs CAPITAL CAMPAIGN NEEDS   Family Life and Christian Education Center $1,760,000 Carr-Jorgensen House Removal 55,000 Retire Mortgage 210,000 Campus Preservation Endowment 335,000 Outreach Endowment 60,000 Parish Hall & Chapel Refurbishment 70,000 TOTAL $2,490,000

How Can We Get Needed Funds Maximize congregation commitments Solicit outside sources which we are doing currently Prioritize, don’t fund all of our needs

WILL WE HAVE A MORTGAGE ? Yes, conversion bridge loan to permanent financing, To Be Determined Dependent upon success of Capital Campaign Plan to reduce significantly by end of 5 year period Various scenarios being developed

BEFORE DECIDING HOW YOU CAN SUPPORT THE FUTURE OF ST BEFORE DECIDING HOW YOU CAN SUPPORT THE FUTURE OF ST. PHILIP’S, PLEASE CONSIDER: How important has St. Philip’s been to your life and to the life of the Episcopal Community? Are you committed to the preservation and improvement of St. Philip’s for future generations? Financial capacity is individual – what is yours for continuing our legacy of worship today and in the future?

Contributions Your contribution to “A Place to Gather and Grow” over the next 5 years is a personal and confidential decision. Not everyone can make a large gift, but every person can make a prayerful, sacrificial gift. All gifts are meaningful and significant.

How can you give: Make a one-time gift Make a pledge with payments spread over five years. Your giving can be in the form of cash, check or stock/securities. You can assign part of your retirement distribution as a gift? Reference IRS Publication 590-B.  Page 13 – qualified charitable distributions. Always consult with your tax adviser for guidance on charitable giving IRS Regulations

“A Place To Gather & Grow” Can you, will you commit to growing our ministries. Your contributions are the “only” way we can succeed. “…you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:7
