WESTERVILLE CIVITAN CLUB SPECIAL EDUCATION PROFESSIONAL AWARD JUDY PAGANI and KEN ADKINS

WHO IS TO RECEIVE THE AWARD? This award is for one teacher who works with students with Special Needs, including classroom teachers, speech and language teachers, and Physical and Occupational therapists.

HOW IS HONOREE SELECTED? Formed a committee of four Civitan members. Four meetings, plus numerous phone calls and e-mails. Strong connection with the Westerville District Special Education Director. Director created committee and solicited nominations from within the district. Many individuals were nominated.

STAFF PRESENTATION Winner was presented with flowers and a framed certificate at the Walnut Springs Middle School staff meeting.

CITY COUNCIL RECOGNITION Ms. Shaffer was recognized April 17, 2018 at a Westerville City Council meeting. She was presented with a plaque and two gift cards. One $100 gift card to buy materials and supplies for her classroom A $50 gift card for dinner at a nice restaurant.

ANNUAL COST OF PROJECT Cost of Perpetual Plaque to be displayed at School District Building - $96 Will be a cost every twelve years. 2d-12th year cost will only be name plate engraving for each honoree. Individual’s plaque - $65 Will be an annual cost. Certificate printing No cost involved. Club member designed and printed certificate. Frame for certificate - $15 Gift Cards – $100 for teacher’s classroom, and $50 for teacher Cost will vary based on club budget and donations.

BENEFITS OF PROJECT Encourages and supports special education teachers and therapists. Provides opportunity for interaction between Civitans and Educators in their community. Brings awareness and appreciation to Civitan Clubs and our mission.
