SCHOLARSHIPS Start early! Takes time and energy Check with individual colleges (Deadlines are often early) Local scholarships may be smaller but easier to get (PN-G HS Local Scholarship Application is due February 22nd) Be organized. Get letters of recommendation ahead of time. Keep your resume updated. Check with any organizations with whom you or your family members are associated, such as church groups, places of employment, etc….. NEVER pay someone to help you find scholarships!
FAFSA Opens October 1st (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) You may use the IRS data retrieval tool to pull in pay-per-year tax information. Some scholarships require a FAFSA application Applying for FAFSA will tell you what grants and or loans you qualify for All students planning on attending college should complete a FAFSA application. http://www.fafsa.ed.gov Parent and Financial Aid Night- October 1st @ 6:30pm in the auditorium
MILITARY Four branches – Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines Others – Coast Guard, National Guard, Reserves Must take the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery)- October 24th @ PNG HS Physical Check with a military recruiter.
