Urine Wrap –up

Micturition- the process of urination Micturition reflex- when the bladder fills up with urine, urination can be ignored for a while, but eventually the sphincter muscles will override conscious control. Babies and urination– babies are unable to physically control their sphincter muscles… so parents should not attempt to potty train their children until they are developmentally ready

More about urination problems… UTIs- Urinary Tract Infection…. Women get more of them due to the proximity of the urethra to the anus

Alcohol use and Urination- Alcohol is a diuretic… not only will individual excrete the water in the alcohol, but excess water… this is why the morning after large amounts of consumption… individuals experience “Cotton mouth” *Hemodialysis- Aka… Kidney dialysis.. When kidneys are failing Individual has to go on Dialysis… blood is pumped through fake kidney to get rid of urea and wastes.

Incontinence– inability to control urination… babies, women after childbirth, runners….

Uremia– fancy word for kidney failure Sphincters….Internal and external on the tip of the urethra Internal is involuntary… external is voluntary….

Difference Between Creatine and Creatinine Creatine In humans and animals, the primary source of creatine is meat. Creatine increases the formation of ATP, thus helps to supply energy to cells in the body. Creatine supplements are given to body builders, athletes, wrestlers and others who wish to gain muscle mass. Creatinine is naturally present in our bodies. It is a break down product of creatine phosphate in muscles. Depending on the muscle mass, creatinine is daily produced in the body at a constant rate. Produced creatinine is removed from the body by the kidneys. Blood carries creatinine into kidneys and through glomerular filtration and proximal tubular secretion, creatinine is filtered into the urine.  Therefore, blood creatinine level and the urine creatinine level are important indications for the kidney functioning.
