Artifacts A fur cap with a chin-strap, shaped like a truncated cone. A garment which is like a knee-length shirt made of untanned furs but sleeveless and roughly like a poncho in construction. A belt and a loincloth of thin leather. Leggings with straps at the tops to hang from belt and tabs to insert into the tops of shoes to hold the bottoms down. Shoes of leather with straps and grass stuffing for warmth. A cloak made of plaited grass.

Prehistory – Evidence of daily life The time BEFORE writing was developed there. Only primary sources found--Found with the tools and clothes he wore, not in an actual tomb or artifacts. Wheat Pollen (alder or pine trees) helped determine time of year of death

What did we learn from The Iceman? What did he do for a living? What was his name? Why was he hiking? Why that season of the year? How is he like Anne Frank? What is the difference? How does one person tell us about a whole culture?

Journal Topic If you were found 5000 years from now, what conclusions could be drawn about this period of time from finding you in your bedroom?
