Forests 2020 £14.2 million investment by UK to improve forest monitoring in 6 countries (Colombia, Brazil, Mexico, Indonesia, Ghana and Kenya) UK investment matched by in international partners Broad definition of forest monitoring system, priorities set by partners (GHG-MRV, biodiversity, national policies) UK experts (Universities of Edinburgh, Leicester, Carbomap, Ecometrica) Testing a range of forest monitoring methods in window areas prior to scale-up

Main Project Stages Inception- 6 month startup Define priorities, window areas, identify target stakeholders for improved mapping products Testing of Sept 2017 to December 2018 Develop and test improved products in window areas Scale-up and implementation January 2019 to March 2020 Roll out improved mapping products to end users, continued improvement in window areas Disseminate findings and experience through GFOI
