The Hero’s Journey

Let’s think… Make a list of your favorite stories. These can be movies, TV series, books, campfire stories, etc. After you’ve made your list, think about what all these stories have in common. List as many things in common as you can.

Summary Joseph Campbell wrote a book called The Hero with a Thousand Faces. In it he explained his idea that there is only 1 hero story (the monomyth) that keeps getting retold. There are roughly 12 stages in the hero’s journey.

What books & movies did you use? Was Campbell right? Did the story follow the monomyth?
