Presentation transcript:

Electrokinetic Phenomena at Hydrophobic Interfaces Brian J. Kirby, Sibley School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Cornell University We are exploring the temporal dependence of the electrokinetic response of hydrophobic surfaces. Recent observations show that hydrophobic surfaces develop interfacial voids. Coincident with these voids is a long time scale change in the electrokinetic response of the system. We are investigating these phenomena with atomic force microscopy and time-resolved electrokinetic characterization.
