7 Elements of Art

An element of art that refers to the way things feel, or look as if they might feel if touched. Texture

Examples of Texture A texture is usually described as smooth or rough, soft or hard, coarse of fine, matt or glossy, and etc. Texture is divided into two categories, namely, tactile and visual textures. Tactile textures refer to the immediate tangible feel of a surface. Visual textures refer to the visual impression that textures produce to human observer, which are related to local spatial variations of simple stimuli like color, orientation and intensity in an image.

An element of art by which positive and negative areas are defined or a sense of depth achieved in a work of art. Space

The 8 Elements of Composition in Art

Occurs when all of the elements of a piece combine to make a balanced, harmonious, complete whole. Do all the parts of the composition feel as if they belong together, or does something feel stuck on, awkwardly out of place? Unity or Harmony

A sense that the painting "feels right" and not heavier on one side A sense that the painting "feels right" and not heavier on one side. Having a symmetrical arrangement adds a sense of calm, whereas an asymmetrical arrangement creates a more dynamic feeling.
