All About Nouns

NOUNS Nouns are naming words Nouns name people, places, and things

Examples People- girl, boy, teacher, doctor Places- park, school, beach, store Things- pencil, book, paper, desk

Turn and Talk Talk to a partner about nouns. What do you see in the classroom that is a noun? Can you think of some other nouns? Share with your partner.

Categorize Nouns Let’s put these nouns into the right category! People Places Things lady, rope, swimmer, school, restaurant, mirror, bed, doctor, student, man, girl, teacher, park, building, principal, pencil, friend, airport, worker, pen

Two Types of Nouns There are two types of nouns- common and proper. Common nouns are general and name any person, place, or thing. Proper nouns are names of particular places, people, or things. They are specific.
