Project Aim Reduce no show rate for first time outpatient therapist appointments for clients that were discharged from Nicolet Psychiatrist Center (NPC)

Changes Clients were scheduled to see therapist 1 week after discharge from NPC. Prior to project appointment times were 5 to 6 weeks from date of discharge. Project was held for 3 weeks. Morning report outs are held daily to discuss clients on unit, therapist that was involved in project attended regularly.

Data Before Project Results from project Looked at 2 months worth of data Out of 10 clients all of them failed their appointment that was set up for them after discharge from NPC 6 of the clients returned to NPC with in 3 months Results from project 10 clients were scheduled within 1 week of discharge 6 clients came to their appointments 4 clients continued seeing a therapist after first appointment 1 client that came to their first appointment was back on NPC with in 2 days of therapist appointment but was able to see therapist with in 3 days of discharge and continues to see therapist

Next steps Long term goal is to reduce the wait time discharged NPC clients have to see a therapist. Continue the project for a longer period of time using existing therapist Follow up with people that didn’t continue with therapy and the no show individuals

Impact The sooner clients are able to get an appointment the more likely they are to keep the appointment. No show rates are reduced when the wait time is reduced. Cost savings on NPC since few clients returned to unit. Increase revenue in outpatient client with fewer no shows.
