What people think will be effective X What actually is effective  2. Based on National Research

3. We look for strategies that can be self-sustaining, or that can be sustainably integrated into the fabric of community institutions.

4. We select strategies that support or work well with efforts already underway in the community, or that match up well with local resources

6. Our Coalition has agreed on a set of values, and we only embrace strategies that fit with these values…

Health Equity We have challenged ourselves to become more proactive in the movement toward Health Equity in our area… …we’ve updated our values… …we held a retreat… …we focused our data analysis on health equity and held a press conference… …we added a goal to reduce health disparities in the outcomes we are addressing We did 10 focus groups with groups throughout the community to learn more about how and where people access healthy food and what obstacles to access they face. …we’ve started a concerted recruitment effort to increase the diversity of our coalition …we’re planning a racial justice advisory dinner to gain further input and perspective on coalition activities

New Youth Leadership Initiative Lead social norms marketing and social marketing campaigns (e.g.: Above The Influence, State Without StigMA, “how to be a good friend”) Build a strong youth involvement component to CTC Identify and connect existing youth groups throughout the region Provide training and leadership development Lead youth advocacy for municipal policies that support substance use prevention, healthy eating and active living …we are working on creating a new Youth Leadership Initiative to have young people more directly involved in coalition activities, leadership, and planning…
