The Tulip Touch Part 2 Chapter 1 - 5 Lesson Objectives: To understand the opening chapters of Part 2 of the novel. To understand the emotions characters would feel throughout the novel.

Why do you think it was said? ‘No-one is born evil’ Why do you think it was said? Who do you think it’s about? Who would say this? Why would they say it?

Let’s Read: Chapter 1 Why does Julius think that Tulip is a witch? What do you think Tulip would be capable of doing if she really was a witch?

Tulip the witch Write a spell that Tulip would cast on someone. CHALLENGE – write in rhyme 

Let’s read: Chapters 2 - 5

Guilt. Write a definition for the word ‘guilt’ in your own words. Who should feel more guilty out of Natalie and Tulip and why? Who do you think actually does feel more guilty out of the two?

Writing task Write a diary entry from Natalie’s perspective after spending a day with Tulip. Be sure to discuss her feelings and emotions after the acts she engages in with Tulip.

Pair and share Read somebody else’s diary entry and write a response to it from TULIP’s perspective.

Plenary Read your partner’s your response to your original diary entry. Mark your partner’s work for SPAG. Set your partner a SMART target for their writing.
