Presentation transcript:

19-21 March 2013, Chisinau, Moldova The use of international classifications in the statistical system of the Republic of Tajikistan Rajabova Nigina Saidovna – Head of the Department of registers, classifications and dissemination of informational publications of the Agency on Statistics under the President of Tajikistan 19-21 March 2013, Chisinau, Moldova

What classification of activities is currently in use Currently, using the National Classification of Economic Activities, based on the ISIC version 3.1. This classification was developed and approved in 1999 Used in the statistical register since 2000 Introduced in structural statistics only in 2010 due to reasons of finances and human resources   2

What classification of products activities is currently in use Unfortunately at the moment we do not have the Classification of main products, which is harmonized with the National Classification of economic activity NCEA, rev.1. This is a huge problem, which is as usual connected to finances and the lack of the Russian version.

Use of other classifications Other classifications that are currently in use in the statistical system, include: International Standard Classification of Occupations; Common Commodity Nomenclature of Economic Activities; Classification of services in foreign trade activities; International Standard Classification of Education; Classification of Individual Consumption by Purpose, etc.

Revisions taking place currently Common Classification of Economic Activities (CCEA rev. 2), which structurally corresponds to NACE rev. 2, was developed in 2010.

Transitional period + SOFTWARE Implementation Plan for the Common Classification of Economic Activities CCEA, rev. 2 also was developed 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 Create and approve (officially) CCEA CPC NACE2 +СРА08 (implement) National version REGISTER Transitional period + SOFTWARE

Status of implementation Draft of the Classification of main products at 9-digits level, harmonized with the CCEA rev. 2 (2010) was developed Common Classification of Economic Activities (CCEA rev. 2) was used during the Economic Census of the Republic of Tajikistan in 2010, as well as during the Population and Housing Census in 2010 Parallel coding is done in the statistical register by using CCEA rev. 1 and CCEA rev. 2.

Specific issues raised by the Classification of activities Some problems are appearing during parallel coding of statistical units in the Statistical Register. To solve some of the problems we are using the Base of problematic issues located on the CISSTAT site. Other questions raised include: for example, where to place "the organization of students to travel abroad" (i.e. collecting of students, who wishing to study abroad).

Issues related to the time series We are having difficulties with recalculation of time series. According to the current decision, 2 years of time series will be recalculated

Issues related to other classifications Generally speaking, the statistical system of the Republic of Tajikistan is experiencing some difficulties in the development and implementation of classifications. First of all due to the lack of qualified professionals One of the main causes of new problems is the lack of Russian translations of International classifications And the third problem is finances For example there would be a need to organise training and workshops for producers of official statistics, i.e. the employees of the statistical system, as well as for users.
