Division Contributions to Society Standards HFICD does not currently support any ANS standards Position Statements HFICD does not currently support any ANS position statements Considering position statements related to Spent fuel pool monitoring Post-accident and post-severe-accident monitoring Cybersecurity Affiliations with other technical organizations Informal affiliations with IEEE, ISA, and KNS

Performance against Goals Status Membership Pilot program to support the addition of HFICD for non-HFICD ANS members who attended NPIC/HMIT 2015 – In process Meetings Embedded NPIC/HMIT topical at 2017 Annual Meeting Communications Nuclear News special section on I&C/HF preceding NPIC/HMIT - complete Publish special topic issue(s) of Nuclear Technology following NPIC/HMIT - In process Governance YMG Liaison (Jamie Coble) and student member of ExComm (Zach Welz) Honors and Awards Award DMA and TQECA, grad and undergrad scholarships. Nominate HFICD members for ANS Fellow. Standards Contribute to existing standards efforts in ISA, IAEA, IEEE, IEC, etc.

Summary Successes: Successful NPIC/HMIT in 2015, embedded meeting in 2017 Annual Meeting Continue two-year meeting cycle Division support for graduate and undergraduate scholarships, student conference, and student ExComm member Two HFICD members elected to ANS Fellow at this meeting Division awards for lifetime achievement (Don Miller Award) and early career award (Ted Quinn Award)

Summary Focus for Future Action: Growing Division Membership Increase visibility with utilities – sponsoring sessions at UWC, continuing utility track at NPIC/HMIT Increase student engagement – advertise scholarship opportunities, student conference opportunities, team with YMG Implement pilot program to enroll non-HFICD ANS member attendees of NPIC/HMIT in the division and evaluate retention Enhancing Division Value Make past NPIC/HMIT meeting proceedings available to Division members through Collaborate Continue to offer tutorials and special workshops before topical meetings Investigate opportunities to co-organize meetings with IEEE (e.g., the sensors council) or Korean Nuclear Society (ISOFIC) Encourage active use of Collaborate for discussion, archive, and information dissemination

Summary Requests for the BOD and Officers Collaborate: default all division members to register for collaborate and receive daily emails Adopt a large society mentality for conferences Page charges Plenary speaker registration Automatically enroll non-members as ANS members with non-member conference rate Default to electronic delivery of Nuclear News
