The project is funded by Welsh Government through the Efficiency Through Technology Fund (Click) This is a Once for Wales scaling up and accelerating of the development and implementation of cardiology e-referrals, diagnostic requests and clinical communications to transform cardiology pathways. (Click) The overall objective is to improve availability of appropriate patient information at all stages of a patient’s journey through cardiac services. (Click) In turn, this should help enable patients to receive diagnosis and care, from the right clinician, in a shorter time and in a safer auditable pathway. (Click) Prompt and appropriate access to not only diagnostic testing and specialist cardiology advice but access for all patients to clinically and cost effective treatment and care in line with latest evidence, national standards and guidelines . (Click) We are working with partner organisations to ensure IT and communication links enable clinical staff fast, safe and secure access anywhere in Wales to support the information needed to care for patients. (Click) Working with leading suppliers to maximise the features of existing IT infrastructure to support effective sharing of clinical records/care plans (Click) Supporting the development of community cardiology projects in all Health Boards to enable and maximise the benefits to patients from community cardiology services especially in rural areas.
