Words with suffixes -ation, -ition, -al, -ial

What is a suffix A Suffix: A group of letters placed at the end of a word to change the meaning.

Decoration = Noun; decorate, something used to make something else more beautiful. Example: I will use flowers for the decoration of my cards. Likable = Adjective; like, easy to like. Example: Amira is a likable girl.

Abbreviation = Noun; abbreviate, a short form of a word. Example: There is an abbreviation for the names of every day of the week.

Admiration = Noun; admire, a feeling of approval and respect. Example: Theses students show great admiration for their teachers.

Association = Noun; associate, a group of people joined together for a common interest. Example: Our common interest in the Go Green Association is to plant more trees for our planet.

Aviation = Noun; aviate, the act of flying an airplane. Example: Aviation is a very interesting job, we get to see lots of new countries! Wright brothers definition. Orville and Wilbur Wright, American mechanics and inventors of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, who achieved the first sustained flight of a heavier-than-air machine — what we today call an airplane. Their flight was made at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, in 1903.

Civilization = Noun; civilize, a culture of a certain society that reached an advanced level. Example: The Pharaonic civilization is one of the smartest and the oldest civilizations in the world. Incas :South American Indian people living in the central Andes before the Spanish conquest.

Declaration = Noun, declare, a formal announcement. Example: 1952 was the declaration of independence of Egypt.

Addition = Noun; add, the process of finding the total of two or more numbers. Example: The addition of two plus three is five.

Composition= Noun; compose, a piece of writing that needs thinking and imagination. Example: The teacher asked us to write a composition about what would we like to be when we grow up.

Preposition = Noun; pre-pose, a word such as (in, under, at, on,…) that comes before a noun and shows time or place. Example: The word under in the sentence (the cat is under the bed) is a preposition.

Abdominal = Noun; abdomen, the part of the body between the chest and the hips. Example: Poor girl! she has a severe abdominal pain.

Admiral: Noun; admir ; The ship’s captain or commander. Example: The British admiral captain returned home after 1 month voyage in his own ship.

Rendition = Noun; render, presentation, performance of a musical composition or a dramatic role. Example: The Egyptian rendition of the Russian swan lake ballet is amazing.

Disposal = Noun; dispose, getting rid or giving away of something. Example: The disposal of the trash is very important for our health.

Emotional = Adjective; emotion, showing strong emotions Example: Girls are emotional, they cry when they watch sad movies.

Environmental = Adjective; environment, Has to do with the natural life on planet earth. Example: car exhaust is causing a great environmental damage.

Denial = Noun; deny, refusing to admit something. Example: No one believes the thief’s denial.

Facial = Adjective; face, has to do with the face. Example: His facial expression is so serious.

Judicial = Adjective; has to do with judges, court rooms and lawyers. Example: The judicial system is very important to assure fairness among people.

Testimonial = Noun; a formal statement to a specific event to express admiration or appreciation. Example: I loved the science fair and I wrote a very nice testimonial about many projects.
