Using Reddinet for SNF bed availability ReddiNet is an online tool that can be used to provide SNF bed availability and updates on SNF status during disasters. Jan Koegler, MPH Public Health Emergency Preparedness Program

SNF Bed Availability During SNF evacuations a rapid assessment of available SNF beds is needed Phone calls take time Messages regarding numbers of beds can be inaccurate SNF bed availability can change quickly

Why use “ReddiNet”? Provides an online site to report available beds Easy to see all available beds at one time Easy to update as bed availability changes Can be used as a daily tool by hospitals to locate SNF beds Can add comments and additional information about surge bed areas by using an assessment questionnaire

What is “ReddiNet”?

How is ReddiNet used by hospitals? Used to view ED and hospital service availability Monitoring flu surge at hospitals Managing patient destinations from the field to hospitals for multicasualty events Broadcast messages between Santa Barbara County and other counties hospitals, health departments, and EMS.

Who developed ReddiNet? ReddiNet was developed and is managed by the Hospital Association of Southern California “HASC” Used for ED and hospital service availability, monitoring flu, and for multicasualty events

What is missing from the ReddiNet bed assessment? Single rooms (either male or female) Unstaffed licensed beds for facilities who can bring staff Surge areas Cots and bed needs to surge What else?

Can Reddinet be changed to meet these needs? May be possible to add single bed category Surge and unstaffed beds can be included in a ReddiNet “Assessment” questionnaire We can include any questions we want

How do we participate in ReddiNet? Facility must sign the Reddinet Master Agreement (NOTE: Appendix A contract language related to “software” appears to be outdated—this is now an online program) Facility must provide the “ReddiNet Contacts” form

Who Pays for ReddiNet? EMS Agency will pay for the initial year of ReddiNet During the year we will all evaluate its usefulness If funds are available EMS Agency may continue to pay or ask for a share of cost
