Water Contamination: A Fatal Danger By Tino Spiliotopoulos, Shane Insang, and Jianqi Zhang

In April 2015, Nepal suffered a catastrophic earthquake

The earthquake resulted in many deaths and the contamination of the country’s drinking water

With the contaminated water, adults and kids have contract diseases such as hepatitis B, Salmonella, Giardia, and Cholera

These people have died and more will also pay the price if the water contamination lasts

Solution #1 Build filters

Consequences of Solution #1 Will Cost a lot of money

Solution #2 Boil the water

Consequences Can rid the water of viruses, parasites, and bacteria but cant eliminate chemicals like filters can

Engineer needed for Filter Solution Civil Engineer Chemical Engineer Environmental Engineer

Engineer Attributes Communication skills Mathematic skills Responsibility Well-rounded team Good visualization Ability to mobilize people and materials
