Introduction Define underserved communities Barriers that hinder underserved communities from being vaccinated How to apply new ideas to increase vaccination in underserved communities

Definition Underprivileged- A term pertaining to people who are deprived of the social, cultural, and economic benefits that are available to most others in their society (Barker, 1999). Community- a group of individuals or families that share certain values, services, institutions, interests, or geographic proximity (Barker, 1999).

Definition Underserved community- A group of individuals that are deprived of essential services that are needed to enhance quality of life. Examples of essential services include: health, education, transportation, financial and social support.

Barriers Lack of education about immunizations Parents are not educated about the varies diseases Parents are not educated about the risk of not vaccinating their children

Barriers Lack of Transportation Communities without public transportation Irregular bus scheduling No personal transportation

Barriers Lack of Financial Resources Minimum Wage Time is Money Unable to schedule time off
