Grace and Glory 1 Peter 5:1-14

Peter’s Admonition Live right! Do good! Hang in there!

The Challenges of the Christian Life To be holy as God is holy. 1 Pet. 1:15-16 To remain faithful to Jesus through sufferings. 1 Pet. 2:20-21 To avoid getting munched on by our enemy, the devil, who prowls around like a voracious lion. 1 Pet. 5:8 To live in submission to those in authority over us. 1 Pet. 2:13-3:7

The Challenges of the Christian Life Not to return evil for evil, but to do good always. 1 Pet. 3:9 To overcome fear of people and speak out boldly for Christ. 1 Pet. 2:14-15 To say “no” to evil human desires and say “yes” to the will of God. 1 Pet. 4:2

Hebrews 4:16 Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

God provides the grace we need the hardships and sufferings of life. The Provision God provides the grace we need to get through the hardships and sufferings of life.

Matthew 20:25-28 You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave—just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

The Premise In order to receive the grace God provides, we must humble ourselves before God and others.

Matthew 18:14 For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.

“In Due Time” is… The last day 1 Pet. 1:5b The time when Jesus Christ is revealed 1 Pet. 1:7,13 The time when the Chief Shepherd appears 1 Pet. 5:4 The end of all things 1 Pet. 4:7

“He will lift you up” to… Resurrection and restoration 1 Pet. 1:3,21; 5:10 Salvation 1 Pet. 3:20-21 An inheritance that can never perish, spoil, or fade 1 Pet. 1:4 Freedom from sufferings forever 1 Pet. 1:6,10

“He will lift you up” to… Great joy, inexpressible and glorious 1 Pet. 1:6,8 The ultimate praise, glory, and honor 1 Pet. 1:7, 5:4

The Promise He will lift you up.

God provides the grace we need to get through hardships and sufferings of life. In order to receive this grace we must humble ourselves before God and others. Those who humble themselves and receive God’s grace will be sustained through all life’s struggles until they arrive at God’s promised glory.

God will give you the grace you need to make it to His promised glory. Truth to Take Home God will give you the grace you need to make it to His promised glory.
