WP3 meeting Aug 21, 2015 V1.1 RECAP Francesco Cerutti

HL-LHC V1.1 IR5/IR1 for the D2-Q4 region see L.S. Esposito’s talk at the 2014 Annual Meeting at KEK http://indico.cern.ch/event/326148/session/17/contribution/43 for the triplet-D1 region see F. Cerutti’s talk at the 2014 Annual Meeting at KEK http://indico.cern.ch/event/326148/session/17/contribution/42 F. Cerutti Aug 21, 2015 WP3 meeting

WARNING: V1.1 → V1.2 the design of the tungsten equipped beam screen and the interconnects plays a major role with respect to the radiation impact over the triplet-D1 string. Their evolution is potentially worsening the anticipated picture (longer shielding gap in the ICs!) TAXS tentatively back to 60mm aperture (it was 54mm), no major effect expected concerning the impact on matching section magnets TAXN twin bores from 80mm to 85mm! D2-Q4 corrector aperture: from 100mm (previously guessed) to 105mm (as the D2) 80-85mm option for the Q4 (still 90mm baseline) dependence on crossing plane naturally complicates things implying various worst scenarios F.
