Drugs, Disease, and Injury Alcohol: Dissolves brain cells, cutting neural pathways. Concussion: Temporary or permanent disruption of brain function usually from head trauma. Marijuana: Leaves deposits that block the synapses affecting learning, memory, depression, and schizophrenia.
