Reminder of Data Sources for LaunchBoard Student and program data, including characteristics, progress, and completion from the CCCCO MIS database Employment and earnings data from Employment Development Department CTEOS outcomes from the CTE Outcomes Survey Labor market information from EMSI Inner vs External Factors

Different Views in the LaunchBoard: Thinking About Economic Mobility Offerings: how do your CTE programs compare to others in the region and how do programs at a college compare to each other; time trends Students: getting to know them at the college and in the different program areas Milestones: persistence, retention rates Success: how do students benefit in terms of awards and wage gains for skills builders Employment: how do those successes at the college translate to employment and earnings Earnings: are my students making a living wage?

Economic Mobility: Bringing Data from Launchboard and CTEOS into Conversations Regional Level: looking at outcomes for colleges across a region College Level: looking at outcomes for a college across programs College Level: looking at outcomes for a college across demographics and student populations

Regional Level: Inland Empire | Living Wage Source for Living Wage; Differences – almost 30% difference between colleges; sample or population sizes – pretty healthy with only Copper Mountain below 100 students

Regional Level: Inland Empire | Living Wage First impressions of the data Almost 30% difference between highest and lowest Sample size, population or numerator and denominators Steady increase over the last three years What else would you like to know? Source of the data for living wage Which programs are getting students to a living wage? What does the breakdown look like amongst ethnicities or age groups or gender? Is there a difference between completers and skill builders? Can we ever know which students are missing? Source for Living Wage; Differences – almost 30% difference between colleges; sample or population sizes – pretty healthy with only Copper Mountain below 100

Living Insight Center for Community Economic Development Source for Living Insight Center – will be the source for the FF by COUNTY

Living Wage Calculations for Riverside and San Bernardino Counties Living wage for two counties in Inland Empire – FF change will not affect this region much

Perkins Indicator Reports What are some of the potential inconsistencies of the data in Launchboard vs other sources AT THIS TIME? Datamart vs Launchboard Data Mart Launchboard Data Can be updated any time by colleges Refreshed quarterly with MIS data Enrollments include drop-outs Enrollments do NOT include drop-outs Perkins vs Launchboard Perkins Indicator Reports Launchboard Data Limited cohort of students reported: more than one credit vocational course, valid SSN, did not enroll in K-12, no prior post-secondary credential, either completed 12+ vocational units under same 2-digit TOP or earned a vocational award Broad cohort of students: taken one or more course in the selected TOP code in the selected year Focus on Five Core Indicators: technical skills attainment; earned a credential, certificate or degree; persistence or transfer; job placement; nontraditional participation and completion 100s of metrics: shown more at a granular level without combining metrics i.e. completion and transfer are shown separately I was wondering about trying to be really upfront about the inconsistencies and limitations of the data.
