Quality Indicators in Discovery Metadata conclusion from WGCV/WGISS (Brazil) Objective: Ensure quality and uncertainty information availability (discovery and access) for users Measurement equation must be embedded in a way Per pixel uncertainty maybe too large to handle There exist a set of key quality metrics that are useful and indicators QI should be tagged at all stages with a link to the earlier stages and is locked into the future Discussion on where to go forward – QI is well defined but concrete cases will always have different levels and flags Describing QI is not easy and more difficult to do it for the user readability Keep in mind that quality is defined by end user – fitness for purpose is defined by end user
Quality Indicators in Discovery Metadata progress (telecon) Tasks: QI Test case: Evaluate whether SST would provided a suitable test case for QI development that can act as an expressive case for QI access and implement this or an alternate case as determined through this activity Survey on QI currently used by different sensor families Validation of SST as suitable test case for QI Telecon Outcomes: Confirmed that SST is a suitable test case for QI development.. Next Steps: WGCV Vice-Chair to ask SST Virtual Constellation Chair & GHRSST to help developing a case study on QI to be further implemented by WGCV. Done and confirmed Initiating discussions with GHRSST team WGCV (Nigel) to survey SST QIs currently used by different sensor families at different agencies. (in conjuction with GHRSST) WGISS (Michael) to start defining best approach for representing and including QIs for the selected test case in discovery metadata searchable by end users. WGISS (Michael) to start narrowing down 1) embedding measurement equation, 2) linking later stages to earlier stages and processing, 3) readability for end users Dedicated small group teleconference (Task Team) to be held by end of July.
Define and make available measurement equation
Scientific Assessment Simplified visualisation to present status of traceability process chain, dependancies and QI information
Detail of information, per parameter,
GHRSST Case study: as a working good example Progress to date not fast (NH summer) but should now move forward Confirmation from G Corlett to start on this next week Review current reported meta-data on SST and how QI information made accessible/viewable For individual sensors and from GHRSST product (if different) Value/usefulness/adequacy for current users Links to Validation data and preservation of information/evidence Develop measurement Eqn, traceability visualisation of process (from L1 data sets) Consider how to enhance/embed/report QA info to users Consider link to Sensor L1
