Learning Objectives Describe patient support strategies when there is a risk of treatment failure

Strategy to support patients Promote VL testing (provide information about it, identify eligible patients for VL test, offer VL test, monitor) Provide general education on VL to all patients (eligible or not): -Through health talks at ART clinic waiting areas, drama -During group or individual counseling -(During EAC when needed)

Strategy to support patients (contd.) Provide Enhanced adherence counseling (EAC) Offer EAC sessions at the clinic: Assess adherence barriers and identify strategies to overcome problems through: - Group sessions Individual sessions Integrate disclosure sessions for child patients Repeat VL test and monitor progress

Strategy to support patients (contd.) Provide 2nd line treatment counseling for eligible patients Offer 2nd line treatment counseling at the clinic: Educate patients on 2nd line ART, assess adherence, discuss challenges and possible solutions through: - Group sessions Individual sessions
