Stuck Lesson 1: "Broken"

Passage Reading Romans 8:1-17

Study: pg. 23 Led by the Spirit Led by the Flesh Set their minds on things of the Spirit (v. 5) Life and peace (v. 6) Given life to our mortal bodies (v. 11) Will live (v. 13) Are sons of God (v. 14) Adopted (v. 15) Children of God (v. 16) Hearts of God/fellow heirs with Christ/glorified with Him (v. 17) Set their minds in things of the flesh (v. 5) Death (v. 6) Hostile to a God/does not submit to God's law (v. 7) Cannot please God (v. 8) Does not belong to Him (v. 9) Will die (v. 13) Will back into fear (v. 15) Study: pg. 23

So what do we learn from this apparent contrast? In the case of those who are in Christ Jesus, this divided stat ends in the glorious triumph of the Spirit over the flesh. Although the flesh is still subject to the law of sin, the Christian serving not the flesh, but walking according to the Spirit, shall not com into condemnation, but to glory with Christ. Believers must rely on the Holy Spirit work in their lives for the power to overcome sin.

What are the truths of these Scriptures? Isaiah 53:6 Proverbs 3:34 The whole race of mankind lies under the stain of original corruption, and every particular person stands charged with many actual transgressions. The end of sinners will be everlasting shame, the end of saints endless honor. Study – pages 24-28

Pg. 29 2 Corinthians 12:7-10 So now that we understand that we NEED the Spirit to overcome, what happens if what we struggle with remains?

Pg. 29 WHO ARE YOU, LORD? WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME? Circle all references to God or Christ God is… Someone who is capable of freeing me from my struggles Gracious Powerful >>> power that is bestowed on me WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME? Underline references to Paul and draw an arrow to what he does I am to… Not become conceited Receive thorns Receive torment Plead with the Lord Delight in weakness Receive grace Boast about weaknesses Be weak and be strong Rest in Christ's power Pg. 29
