Proposal for P&P Change - #2009-1 May 2009 doc.: IEEE 802.11-09/0623r0 May 2009 Proposal for P&P Change - #2009-1 Date: 2009-05-15 Authors: Jon Rosdahl, CSR Jon Rosdahl, CSR

May 2009 doc.: IEEE 802.11-09/0623r0 May 2009 Abstract A proposed change to the current approved P&P was made during the Opening Plenary of the 802.11 May 2009 Interim Session. This file captures that proposed change and additional discussion points that were made during the week. This file also contains the changes that should be made to the existing old-style 802.11 P&P due to approved changes from previous sessions and requirements. Jon Rosdahl, CSR Jon Rosdahl, CSR

Existing Rule underconsideration May 2009 Existing Rule underconsideration 3.6.3 Teleconferences Teleconferences are a means to prepare input for sessions provided that the teleconference date, time, agenda, and arrangements are announced 10 calendar days prior to the teleconference date and that the minutes (Agenda, List of Attendees, and proceedings) are kept and published as WG documents within 7 days of the teleconference. Teleconferences may not be held more frequently than weekly. Jon Rosdahl, CSR

Proposal for P&P Change #1 May 2009 doc.: IEEE 802.11-09/0623r0 May 2009 Proposal for P&P Change #1 Change to 3.6.3 Teleconferences in existing P&P 11-07-0360-04-0000-802-11-policies-and-proceedures.doc Change the last sentence “Teleconferences may not be held more than twice per week.“ Rationale: The restriction of holding only one Teleconference per Task Group dates back to the era when there were only PHY and MAC activities But now is an impediment to completing comment resolution. Because we need to: reduce use of adhoc meetings (cost reduction) accommodate discussions over several time zones. Meet time critical deadlines Impact: TG will be able to request extra Teleconferences in order to meet specific time requirements or time zone needs. TG will still be expected to be prudent with time requirements of the WG members. Jon Rosdahl, CSR Jon Rosdahl, CSR

Editorial updates and Document Number May 2009 Editorial updates and Document Number Since the last Formally approved 802.11 P&P, we have not published any of the updates that were in the meeting minutes or the 2008 officer changes. The current P&P states that each year the P&P shall be posted to the xx/0001 document. So, the changes that get approved today should be posted to doc 09/0001r1 Document 09/0001r0 will be the new WG P&P based on the baseline, and it will be reposted with a new number and submitted to the 802 EC for approval. This will then become our current P&P until we get the 802 EC to determine when they will allow the WGs to adopt the new AudCom required format. Jon Rosdahl, CSR

Changes made to 07/360r4 Changed Doc number to 09/0001r1 May 2009 Changes made to 07/360r4 Changed Doc number to 09/0001r1 Updated WG Chair Updated Date/version Corrected Acronym for 802 EC = 802 LMSC executive committee 2.10.2 changed reserved number from “0000” to “0001” 3.6.3 – Change last sentence to allow 2 times per week 6.1.2 – Add condition for loosing Aspirant status Failure to attend 75% of 4 consecutive plenary sessions, an Aspirant can become a new participant by meeting the requirements in 6.1.1. Jon Rosdahl, CSR

P&P change approved in March 2009 plenary May 2009 P&P change approved in March 2009 plenary Change 6.4 as follows: Change “2 out of 3” to “4 out of 6” Add Note as 2nd sub-bullet to 2nd bullet: Note – the 802 LMSC Policies and Procedures state that membership is lost for failure to return 2 of 3 consecutive mandatory WG letter ballots, but such loss may be excused by the WG chair if the member is considered active. The rule given above is consistent with the 802 LMSC Policies and Procedures by deeming active any member who has returned 4 out of 6 consecutive mandatory WG letter ballots. Jon Rosdahl, CSR

Motion to Approve Change to P&P May 2009 Motion to Approve Change to P&P Motion: Move to approve the changes to the 802.11 P&P as documented in 11-09/0623r0. Moved: Jon Rosdahl, 2nd: _________ Jon Rosdahl, CSR
