About CECA and Highways The representative body for the UK’s infrastructure contractors Just over 300 members deliver an estimated 80 per cent of all infrastructure construction in the UK Every major project delivered for Highways England and Highways Agency has been built by CECA members Also strong involvement in highways maintenance community Many more members in the highways supply chain, or work for other highways customers Highways makes up more than 25 per cent of CECA members total workload

A little bit of history… 2010 Spending Review Highways Agency to undergo “a full review to ensure that HA structure and governance give assurance of value for money” 2011 – A fresh start for the Strategic Road Network “We must make a clear break from this pattern of short-term thinking and ‘stop–start’ investment. Joined CECA in 2008, having covered highways as a journalist for nearly a decade At time we saw the benefits that came about with longer term certainty of investment

A little bit of history… July 2013 – Action for Roads “From 2015 onwards, the Highways Agency will have long-term funding certainty on its capital programme and resource maintenance, initially to 2021” 2014 – Road Investment Strategy 2015 – Launch of Highways England Joined CECA in 2008, having covered highways as a journalist for nearly a decade At time we saw the benefits that came about with longer term certainty of investment
