CHOCTAW CHEER Dear Family and Friends, I wanted to share the great news with you……I made the Choctawhatchee High School Cheerleading team!! The Choctawhatchee High School cheerleading program is rich with tradition. With three Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) State Small Coed Championships, one FHSAA Large Coed Championship, and four NCA Small Coed National titles and, our squad works hard every year to uphold the high standards set by those who came before us. Last year the Choctaw Cheerleaders placed second in the FHSAA State Small Coed Champions! Go Big Green! Unfortunately, as many of you know, the cost of participating in cheerleading continues to rise each year. As Sideline cheerleaders , we spend approximately $1200 to cover camp, choreography, and practice wear fees while Competition team cheerleaders spend an additional $1700 to cover the costs of competing in the FHSAA Regional and State Competitions and UCA Regionals and Nationals. Many costs the school budget has traditionally covered in the past, must now be paid through the sport organization’s funds, including cheerleader travel to Football and Basketball Playoff games and State Championships. While the cheerleading program costs might seem high, we are given multiple opportunities to raise money throughout the year to cover our expenses. This is where I am hoping you can help!
