Looking Closer at Professional practice goals Focused on instructional Practice Directly Related to academic goal Based on the fact that 50% of my students currently score below Benchmark on the DIBELS/TRC, my goal is that by April, 2012, 100% of my students will score reading level F or higher on the same assessment by April, 2013.  Progress toward this goal will be measured by collecting and analyzing DIBELS/TRC benchmark data, progress monitoring and running records. In order to meet this goal, I will follow the Readers Workshop model to develop well-structured lessons (I-A-4). Each literacy lesson will include posted objectives, a mini-lesson with the whole class, independent reading time in which students respond to what they are reading in a journal, and sharing time during which students share their thoughts and receive feedback from peers. I will conference with individuals and small groups of students during independent reading time, focusing on students who need the most support. I will monitor progress on this goal using a log of lesson plans as well as a log of notes from student conferences. (I-A-4.
