The City-States of Greece 1. Polis - Greek word for city-state. 2. Centered around a fort, and then included the city, lands, and small villages that surrounded the city.
The City-States of Greece 3. Comes to represent center of Greek identity and people loyal to their independent and self-sufficient city- states. 4.Most covered a small area of land and had only around 10,000 people. 5.Only free, adult males had citizenship.
