Presentation transcript:

Harvest of the Month Sign Templates Harvest of the Month is a farm to school model for promoting Washington or locally grown menu items in school meal programs. Before the school year starts, schools decide on a rotation of seasonal items to feature in each month. Then they buy the specific Washington or locally grown crop or product each month, highlight it on menus and serve it in school meals. Some schools buy their Harvest of the Month item directly from farmers; others buy a Washington grown product from their distributor. Some schools may serve the Harvest of the Month product just once during the month. Others may put it on the menu every week during the month. Schools highlight the product on menus, promote the farm producers to students and parents, and do other educational activities about the Harvest of the Month. How to use this sign templates Find the crop you wish to highlight. If it doesn’t exist, create your own: Go to the last slide Fill in the “Crop or product” name at top Find & save a photo of your crop or product Right click where it says “Insert Image Here” Select the image of the crop or product you saved Follow the rest of the steps below Fill in the farm name at bottom Fill in the location where the product was grown Print the sign on 8.5x11” paper or cardstock Post the sign above the item on the salad bar or lunch line!
