Mrs. Kerr’s Friday Notes August 9th, 2013 Dates to Remember: August 12th – 1st Morning Meeting What We Did This Week… Reading Black Lagoon Series Theme First grade goasl and the Kissing Hand Math REMINDERS: School starts at 8:10. All students should report to the lunchroom or gym when entering school. Lunch is at 11:20. (You may come enjoy lunch with your child anytime.) Dismissal is at 3:10. Each evening, please remember to go through your child’s take-home folder and send it back to school EVERY DAY! Please remember to sign or initial your child’s agenda sheet (in folder) EVERY NIGHT! This is a valuable communication tool. Students will walk a lap at recess if their agendas are not signed or initialed. This is to teach responsibility. It is your child’s responsibility to show you his or her folder each day. Your child may bring his or her own snack each day for our afternoon snack. Your child may also bring a water bottle to keep out at his or her desk with a sealable lid (NOT a twistable cap like a coke bottle!). We have had a GREAT start to the school year! Thank you so much for the supplies that you have already sent in! Please turn in any paperwork that you received at Open House by Monday if you haven’t already! If you haven’t given it to me already, please PRINT your e-mail address on the line below. _____________________________ Homework We will begin homework next week! Reading homework will be simply to read to your child at least 10 minutes. We will also have Math Homework that we will give to you on Tuesday. It will be due on Wednesday. Spelling will not start until after labor day! I am so glad to be your child’s teacher this year.. WE are off to a great start. Here are a few things you can work on at home. 7 Habits of Happy Kids 1. Be Proactive 2. Begin with the end in mind 3. Put first things first 4. Think Win-Win 5.
