Developing the Young Workforce: Scotland’s Youth Employment Strategy Developing the Young Workforce, Scotland’s Youth Employment Strategy; asks business to be more involved in shaping and recruiting youth talent. Educators and businesses working together as co-investors to create a skilled workforce for Scotland’s future. This ask makes business sense.

What Does Success Look Like? More young people in employment A reduction in Youth Unemployment by 40% More employers recruiting young people A broader range of opportunities for young people to better prepare them for work Permanent behavioural change among the employer and education communities to underpin the delivery of vocational education A sustainable industry led network that improves collaboration between employers and education Underpinning that culture change, is the recognition that the countries that perform best in terms of youth employment have employers as an integral part of the education system. The influence of employers on career choice is not strong enough and it can trump the influence of others on young people if you look at research www.educationandemployers.org/research-main/   Key changes are: industry led and sustainability through collaboration between employers and education.
