Objective SWBAT describe characteristics of organisms in kingdom Plantae.

Characteristics of Plants Plants are multi-celled. They are multicellular. Plants are eukaryotes. Their cells do have nuclei. Plants are autotrophs (producers).

Check For Understanding Which statement about organisms in kingdom Plantae is FALSE? They are multicellular. Their cells contain nuclei. They depend on other organisms for their energy. They are eukaryotes.

Trees

Flowers

Grass

Vegetables

Fruit

Structure of Plant Cells Plant cells have cell walls made of cellulose, which give them a rigid outer shape and help plants stand upright. Plant cells have chloroplasts, which turn sunlight into food. Plant cells have a large central vacuole.

Check For Understanding Which characteristic describes all members of the kingdom Plantae and some members of the kingdom Protista? They contain leaves. They contain chloroplasts. They are able to decompose nonliving organisms. They are able to obtain energy from other organisms.
