Math Placement Test Results and Scheduling Students who score 84% and greater are placed into 7th grade Honors Math in 6th grade. Students who score between 60% and 83% are placed into 6th grade Honors Math in 6th grade. Students who score below 60 % are placed into 6th grade Standard Math in 6th grade. 6th Grade STEM in Collierville Schools Design and Modeling Students discover the design process and develop an understanding of the influence of creativity and innovation in their lives. They are then challenged and empowered to use and apply what they’ve learned throughout the unit to design a therapeutic toy for a child who has cerebral palsy. Energy and the Environment Students are challenged to think big and toward the future as they explore sustainable solutions to our energy needs and investigate the impact of energy on our lives and the world. They design and model alternative energy sources and evaluate options for reducing energy consumption.

FUTURE OF STEM SCHOLARS PROGRAM The STEM SCHOLARS program was designed to provide access for students to the multiple math pathways, to have a daily STEM course and to pilot the 1:1 device utilization. Current 6th and 7th STEM Scholar cohorts will complete their pathways. Every CS Middle School student is now a STEM Scholar, how? Multiple math pathways (Standard, Honors, Advanced Honors) Daily STEM class for every CS 6th, 7th and 8th grader Digital Learning fully implemented with iPad, Schoology, etc… New additional advanced academic opportunities
Every CMS 6th grader will take: Math (Math 6 Standard, Math 6 Honors or Math 7 Honors) Science (Science 6) Social Studies (World History 6) ELA (ELA 6 Standard or Honors) *STEM 6 – (Design and Modeling/Energy & the Environment) MAPS – Band, Choir, Orchestra, General Music, Art and PE RTI2 *Students that require ESL, Learning Lab or Tier III Intervention may have a different schedule according to service requirements.

Transitioning to 6th grade and CMS Homeroom 6th grade classrooms are all on one hallway for core academic subjects We do not deliver anything to students (forgotten at home) All drop offs (items and lunch) in Main office – student must know to swing by the office and check. PE uniforms – $25 order at registration and first weeks of school Supply box – order on-line and pick-up at registration Agenda book- $10 available at registration and first weeks of school Car Rider/Bus Information available at registration
Clubs, Sports and Activities Key to Engagement CMS offers a variety of different clubs, activities, and sports Clubs, Sports, and Activities Fair on Curriculum Night in the fall Encourage your student to join at least one club, sport or activity Activities meet before or after school
